Why "Third Way Formation"?
The name Third Way Formation comes from the way Jesus constantly demonstrated a third way of thinking and living. In first century Jerusalem, it was either the way of Rome or the Pharisees. Jesus enters the scene and challenges both. In our modern context, we often feel similar dichotomies– the right or left political party, doing it like our parents or forging a new path, condoning or condemning. The life and words of Jesus reveal a third way– a path of holiness and mercy, of honoring the past and continuing in progress, of unity and diversity. A third way, ultimately, of love. It’s our desire to help you be formed by His Word and His Way.
What's the deal with the mountains?
Third Way Formation’s goal is to help people encounter God. Our God, Yahweh, is unlike any other. He is unlike human-crafted idols that civilizations have worshiped for millennia, and He is unlike the real spiritual forces ensnaring humanity. Our God has a history of meeting people on the mountains, the “thin” places where ancient peoples believed the separation between the earth and the heavens was more transcendable. The mountains are a biblical image of the place people meet God and are forever changed. Yet, our God did more than meet those who sought Him. Yahweh put on flesh and came to walk among us. In Jesus, we realize it is God who seeks and God who loves us first. If you want to meet this God, join us and encounter the God of the mountain.

Hey There!
I'm Olivia Greiwe. I'm the one typing on the laptop behind the scenes. I founded Third Way Formation with a longing to create resources to help people re-envision what a relationship with God can look like. Vibrant is the word I'm dreaming to help you cultivate. With Bible studies that go beyond a study mindset, guides to help you integrate new spiritual disciplines into your walk with Jesus, and retreats to help your community encounter the Living God, Third Way Formation is for anyone wanting to reimagine what a life with God can look like.
