Why "Third Way Formation"?

The world often presents us with two options. Two camps. Two sides of the spectrum. Left or right. Condemnation or compromise. Your parents' way or burning it all down. Pick a side. Stay in your lane.

Jesus walked into that same either/or world and refused both. He wasn't indifferent or callous or cowardly. He saw a third way– a path of holiness and mercy, of honoring what was good and continuing in progress, of love that doesn't require you to choose a side first.

When the world leaves you hungry for something different and better, Jesus's way is still surprising. At Third Way Formation, it's our desire to help you be formed by His Word and His Way.

What's the deal with the mountains?

All throughout Scripture, God meets people on the mountain. Sinai, Horeb, the Mount of Transfiguration. Ancient people believed mountains were "thin places" where the separation between Heaven and Earth was more transcendable.

But mountains aren't magic. They represent a willingness to climb, a longing for more, even if you can't see what that "more" is yet. The mountain is the biblical image of the person who has decided: I want to encounter God, and I'm willing to work for it.

Yet God doesn't wait for us to climb. He came down. In Jesus, the God who dwells on the heights put on skin to walk into the dust of ordinary life. He came seeking.

So why mountains if He came down? Because we still carry that longing, the sense that there is more of God than we are currently experiencing. At Third Way Formation, we believe that longing is an invitation and we are here to help you say yes to "more." If you want to meet this God, join us and

With Bible studies that go beyond a study mindset, guides to help you integrate new spiritual disciplines into your walk with Jesus, and retreats to help your community encounter the Living God, Third Way Formation is for anyone wanting to reimagine what a life with God can look like.

Our team consists of me, a rockin' contract editor, occasional freelance artists, a full-time-mom-part-time-social-media-specialist, and all the family and friends that help make this dream a reality.
